Catching Up With CAT: Packing Up With The Kids

Hello everyone, it's Tia bringing this week's Catching up with CAT. Although I've been fairly busy lately, one of my favorite recent adventures has been having the pleasure of doing after-school programming with CRC. Even though I just joined this team about a month ago, I've had tons of fun with this group of young people. They are full of intellect and are always open to learning new things.

A few weeks ago, we did an activity that taught them how to pack a large backpack for a backpacking trip. It was so cool to see them critically think about what to bring with them, how to pack it so that it is not only efficient but also so that the priority items they need are accessible. It was also very hilarious seeing small children try to carry a 20lb backpack full of canned goods, sleeping bags, first aid kits, and tents.

I look forward to after-school every week because it's refreshing to know that I somehow contribute to teaching our young people outdoor skills.

-Tia
