Ladies Of The Lake 2026

Join us August 14th-16th, 2026 in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan for version 2.0 of Ladies of the Lake, an all women’s paddlesport symposium! Enjoy some of the best paddling in the Midwest, with options that include Grand Island and the cliffs of Pictured Rocks.

What To Expect

AUGUST 14th - 16th, 2026

Paddling:

We’ll paddle all day Friday and Saturday, and Sunday morning.

Each day will offer a variety of options, including classes and tours at a variety of levels, and options to paddle Lake Superior (conditions permitting) or protected inland venues.

We’ll gather at Event Headquarters each morning, where you can meet your coach and team for the day, get last minute details, and plan the logistics for the day (boat rentals, getting boats and people to the right place, reviewing weather and water conditions, etc.). Please note that you will have location information before the event. You will need to come to the Morning Meet-Up anyway, as locations may change at the last minute depending on conditions and how the group is feeling.

Evenings (times TBD – keep checking here for details):

Thursday evening: Arrivals, Check ins, Intros, etc.

Arrive Thursday afternoon or evening and check in, say hi, meet your coaches and fellow paddlers, get logistics of any rental gear sorted…

Friday evening: Join us at Event Headquarters for a meal and mingling.

Come meet representatives from a variety of paddling clubs, groups, meet-ups, etc. Learn where they operate and how to get involved. We want everyone to leave the event with at least one new friend, and a way to stay involved in paddling if you don’t have people to paddle with or are looking for people to paddle with in new venues. We’ll provide food for the evening – probably simple, hand-held food so you can talk with all the group you can, as well as with new and old friends.

Saturday evening: Costume Party!

Don’t worry - we’re continuing this well-loved LOL tradition as we embark on Ladies of the Lake Version 2.0! Check back here to find out this year’s theme so you can get a head start on your costume!

Gear

Rental boats will be available for $100/day, or $250 for all three days. You can rent a boat by clicking the button below. If you plan to paddle on Lake Superior, please bring or rent a sea kayak with at least two bulk heads. If you plan to paddle only on inland venues, a sit on top or recreational kayak is acceptable. If you’re not sure about your boat, shoot us an email at adk0673@gmail.com with any questions. Please include the phrase “LOL questions” in the email’s subject line!

*Check back here for information about whether we’ll be adding canoe or SUP board tracks on the protected venues.

Lodging

Lodging is not included. We encourage you to reserve your lodging now, whether you plan to stay in a hotel, airBnB, camp, or something else. Munising is popular in the summer time, and lodging fills up quicky. You will spend a lot of money, and potentially have to drive a long way each day, if you leave it until close to the event!

Meals

Meals are also not included, except for Friday’s dinner.

We DO plan to provide coffee and tea at headquarters each morning. There are a few good coffee shops nearby if you want something a bit fancier. (We understand the need for a latte or a hot cocoa with whipped cream as you start to get tired through the event…!)
