Catching Up With CAT: Finding Newness

Welcome back to Catching Up with CAT, this is Noah. This past week was great because it gave me so many opportunities to try new things. That included a new fishing after-school program, new operations systems, and even a new kind of program with the community paddle. When people ask me what my favorite sport we do at CAT is, I always say whichever one I am currently doing or doing next. One of my favorite things about CAT is that we do so many different things, and we make programs individualized. Having the chance to continue trying new things and working to make them better, different, or exactly what people need is amazing and not something that happens in every program to the extent that we do it.

This past week, I really got to embody that aspect of our work by helping build out and try new offerings, especially with the community paddle. It truly was a great time, from the music to paddling with the community to getting people into a voyager canoe, which I loved. I think my favorite moment over all was I had a pair of siblings on the back seat of the canoe right in front of me and their curiosity and care for both the people that used this region in the past and for the land its self filled my cup. Overall, the community paddle was well thought out with the community in mind, and now that we have done it, we can make it even better next month.
